41
1. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSO
ATES
June 12, 1986
File No. PW86-2011
Page 2
Soil samples will be collected by advancing the boring to a
Point immediately before the sampling location and driving a
modified California sampler with three solid brass tubes into the
soil. The bottom sample tube will be sealed with aluminum foil
and a tight fitting plastic cap. The samples will be placed in
an iced cooler and transported to a State -approved testing
laboratory under chain--of-custody. One soil sample from each
boring will be analyzed for total hydrocarbons, by Infrared
Spectroscopy (IR).
Upon completion of drilling and sampling, each boring will
be backfilled with a cement -bentonite slurry to minimize surface
water infiltration. Drill cuttings will be left on-site, and
proper disposal of the cuttings will be the sole responsibility
of the client.
Upon receipt of analytical results, a brief report will be
prepared containing analytical results, site and boring location
maps, field logs, and field procedures.
To perform this investigation, we require the location of
all underground utilities and other subsurface structures which
could interfere with drilling operations or be damaged during
drilling. Failure to locate such lines or structures and
responsibility for any necessary corrective action or resulting
damage will be the responsibility of the client. Underground
Service Alert (USA), 800/642-2444, provides this service free of
charge for major utility lines. J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates
will make contact with USA for a site visit with a South San
Joaquin Irrigation District.
Estimated Project Costs:
Drilling and Field Supervision $1800.00
Analyses 300.00
(Total hydrocarbons @ $150 each)
Report Preparation 300.00
Total Cost Estimate $2400.00
The above cost estimate will not be exceeded by more than
l0% (to account for field variables and contingencies) without
prior approval. We can proceed upon receipt of an approved copy
of the enclosed contract.
