Patricia H. Leary, P.E. • o
August 1, 2001
Page 2
I
w
FUEL OIL SPILL AT 1130 S. PILGRIM STREET STOCKTON CA. s
entrance to the culvert at the eastern opening. We have been working with o
of the Department of Fish and Game to excavate and manifest the
approximately 20'x20' contaminated area. This remediation will be completed by
August 3, 2001. All free fuel oil was removed by July 31, 2001, and placed in two
20,000 gallon Baker Tanks located at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility at
2500 Navy Drive, Stockton. The contents of those tanks will be analyzed, excess fuel
oil separated, removed and manifested. Wastewater meeting our discharge limits will
be accepted at the POTW. The fill tube for the underground tank at 1130 S. Pilgrim is
being sealed. Fire Marshal of the Stockton Fire Department is working
with San Joaquin County Department of Health Services and David Irey of the District
Attorney's Office to address the final disposition of the fuel oil tank.
Ramos Environmental Services will maintain the oil adsorbent booms at the following
four (4) locations in the 7'x10' culvert: at both the east entrance and west exit, at San
Joaquin Street and near East Anderson Street between the railroad tracks approximately
2000 feet from the east entrance. The boom will be monitored weekly and in
approximately 30 days, confined space entry will be made and the culvert will be
inspected. The result of that inspection will dictate the future course of action, if any is
needed.
If you have any questions regarding this spill incident, please contact Robert J. Castelli,
Technical Services Supervisor, at(209) 937-8719.
MORRIS L.
