Box 47
Yountville, California 94599 '-c.•1Lf:-=
February 24 , 1992
Dear Sir:
It has come to our attention that the Santa Fe Railroad has created
a possible threat to fish and wildlife in the Orwood area between
Old Middle River and Orwood in the Sacramento delta waterways.
The Santa Fe Railroad is rebuilding a wooden bridge that runs down
the middle of the delta and the residue creosote treated lumber and
pilings are left alongside the bridge. High tides wash some of the
treated wood into the delta and the rest is covered by the delta
at other times. It may be that this excessive treated lumber left
in the delta may cause a threat to fish and wildlife in the area.
Our second concern is the removal or damage to beaver dams located
near the bridge. Some have already been damaged and the one
remaininc_r dam that has been there for years is in immediate danger
from the construction crews.
Please advise if anything can be done by your department to stop
the polluting of the delta and possible damage to the one remaining
beaver dam in that area.
,.inc rely/yrs,
R y E.
