DEFINITIONS: <br /> Hazardous Materials and Waste -means "material or mixture of waste <br /> materials which is toxic, corrosive, flammable, an irritant, a strong <br /> sanitizer, or (that) which generates pressure through decomposition, heat <br /> or other means, if such a waste or mixture of wastes may cause <br /> substantial injury, serious illness or harm to humans, livestock, or wildlife". <br /> Extremely hazardous material and waste - means "any hazardous waste <br /> or mixture of wastes which may likely result in death, disability, or <br /> personal injury...". <br /> Toxic hazardous material and waste - means, a) 96 hour LD 50 of 500 mg <br /> (or less) per liter, or b) regulated as a carcinogenic hazard by O.S.H.A. or <br /> c) presents hazard to public health through its bioaccumulative or chronic <br /> toxic properties. <br /> Information regarding properties of hazardous material and waste is <br /> defined in Title XXII of OSHA: <br /> 1. 66696 - Toxicity Criteria (T) <br /> 2. 66700 - Waste Extraction Text (W) <br /> 3. 6702 - Ignitability Criteria (1) <br /> 4. 66790 - Extremely Hazardous Material <br /> 5. - Radioactive Waste (R) <br /> AUTHOR/CONTRIBUTORS: Jerry Cotten <br /> REFERENCES: JCAHO Environment of Care EC. 2.4, OSHA TITLE XXII <br /> APPROVALS: <br /> Reviewed: August 2007 <br /> ]C'.NOGCYUiAZMAT PCD <br />
