24, and historical sample MW3-20). Results of the soil samples indicated that metals,
VOCs, SVOCs, TO -G, PCBs, pesticides, and/or cyanide were not detected above
CHHSL values for commercial/industrial land use. The boring locations from the
August 2012 through November 2012 sampling activities are shown on Figures 2.
Historical soil samples collected at the SWMU prior to use by AIT (MW3-20)
demonstrated no significant impacts to soils.
Groundwater
Results of the groundwater sample from existing monitoring well (MW -2), collected
August 2012 at 20 feet bsg, indicated that cyanides, metals, TPH gasoline, TPH
diesel, TPH motor oil, and VOCs were below the method detection limits, except 2.2
pg/I of m,p-xylene and 1.0 pg/I of o -xylene.
Results of historical groundwater samples (Sample B1 -W, B2 -W, B3 -W, and SB1-W),
collected October 1994 and June 1995 at 20 feet bsg, during investigation conducted
by AIT, indicated that SVOCs, VOCs, TO -G, PCBs, pesticides, and/or cyanides were
below the analytical reporting limit and/or the MCL for California drinking water, with
the exception of metal results from sample S61 -W. The results of groundwater
sample SB1-W indicated that the MCLs for arsenic (CA MCL 10 pg/I, detected at 43
pg/1), beryllium (CA MCL 4 pg/l, detected at 25 pg/1), chromium (CA MCL 50 pg/I,
detected at 370 pg/1), lead (CA MCL 15 pg/1, detected at 960 pg/1), mercury (CA MCL
2 pg/I, detected at 5.5 pg/1), and nickel (CA MCL 100 pg/I, detected at 1,700 pg/1) were
exceeded. Sample SB1-W was collected on June 25, 1995 by AIT. Sample SB1-W
was located between SWMU No. 3 and SWMU No. 5. Based on the results of soil
samples (Sample #2-24, #2-36, #3-24, #4-24, #4-36, #5-24, #6-24, and #7-24, and
historical sample S-1-5 and S-2-5) collected in the area, ranging in depth between 12
and 35 inches below the cement slab, do not indicate that a surface release has
occurred. In addition, groundwater results from monitoring wells MWA and MW -2,
located approximately 75 feet down -gradient of sample location SB -1, collected and
analyzed on October 21, 1994, June 20, 1995 and August 30, 2012, indicate that all
results for metals are below the method detection limit or below CA MCLs.
5. CONCLUSIONS
The purpose of the Phase I/RFA and Closure Report was to determine if the Site had
been adversely impacted from a surface and/or a subsurface release from the tier
permitted facilities and/or other support activities at the Site, and if so to identify
appropriate corrective measures to meet the following goals: 1. Protect human health and
the environment; 2. Achieve media cleanup objectives; and, 3. Control the sources of
release so as to reduce or eliminate, to the extent practicable, further releases of
hazardous constituents that may pose a threat to human health and the environment.
To meet these goals, each of the seven identified SWMUs, the two ADCs and other on-
site operations were further evaluated to ensure that soil or groundwater had not been
impacted from a release. The findings of the Phase I/RFA and Closure Report concluded
the following:
Statement of Basis for Former Advanced Interconnect Technologies, Inc. Facility Page 12 of 15
