Plating Bath Areas
Advancement of four soil borings to 30 feet bsg, three stepping out in unassessed directions from boring B7
and a deeper boring adjacent to B7 to obtain soil and ground water samples to analyze for the target metals
and pH to determine the extent of impacted soil.If possible, an additional continuous core will be collected
in the plating bath area to correlate soil types and contacts with those collected in the tank storage area and
on the adjacent site. Soil samples in subsequent borings will be collected in the step-out borings at
projected points of contact of contrasting soil compositions. In addition, a grab ground water sample will be
collected from the B7 twin boring. All soil samples and the grab ground water sample will be analyzed for
pH; the 2-foot and bottom soil samples and the grab ground water sample will initially be analyzed for the
target metals. As noted in Section 2.2 above, the drilling log for the California Water Service well on the
adjacent site shows yellow clay from near surface to 26 feet below surface grade (bsg); from 26 feet to 30
feet bsg the log shows boulders. The boulders, if present on the subject property, may make obtaining the
proposed total depth and a grab ground water samples difficult and could provide a preferred horizontal
migration route for impacted fluids during periods of high ground water elevation.
Advancement of one soil boring adjacent to the floor drain in the eastern portion of the material preparation
area to obtain soil samples to analyze for the target metals and pH. The floor drain provides a potential
vertical migration route into the subsurface for releases m the area. The boring will be advanced to a total
depth of 20 feet bsg with samples to be collected at projected points of contact of contrasting soil
compositions. Selected samples will be analyzed for pH,a shallow soil sample will initially be analyzed for
the target metals.
Advancement of one soil boring in the former solder flux room to obtain soil samples to analyze for the
target metals and pH. Depth of boring, sampling and analyses will be the same as noted above for the floor
drain area.
Reporting
• Prepare a report of findings.
In addition to the samples collected for laboratory analysis, two collocated or replicate soil samples, or a minimum of 5% of
samples submitted for laboratory analysis, will be collected and travel and equipment blanks will be utilized for quality
assurance and quality control purposes. AGE anticipates that the replicate samples will be analyzed, the blanks will be
analyzed if cross-contamination of samples is suspected.
Additional Health and Safety issues encountered during the project will include:
Health and Safety Monitoring: Field observation and monitoring will be performed on an as-needed basis during mass
grading, excavation, and trenching operation at the Project Site during Phase II and Phase III development.
Construction Safety and Work Zone Delineation: Active work areas will be delineated by installing temporary construction
barriers, traffic barricades and controls and safety features.
Excavated Soil Management: Excavation, placement, stockpiling and hauling of earthen materials removed from excavations
and trenches at the project site may be performed.
While considered unlikely, pockets of impacted or suspected soils may be encountered during earth moving operations. If
encountered, limited handling and temporary storage of impacted soil generated as part of subsurface work at the project site
may be performed.
Groundwater Mana eg menta Groundwater is not anticipated to be impacted.
Page 12
