The paint dust noted in #21 was immediately transferred to the LMT hazmat
area. All buckets were picked up and their contents either returned to the
machine that used it or transferred to the hazmat area.
#45: You have 2 copies of our updated Contingency and Response Plan. We
have a master copy in the office and Bay Specific copies in each bay.
Per your note on the floor sweep containing steel dust, please note that this dust
is collected in specific barrels with lids on full time to keep dust from possibly
swirling out. When approximately 1/3 full, these barrels have the lids sealed on
and are sent to a recycling company.
Regarding your note about the 'used vs. spent' absorbent, I have instructed our
personnel to make sure we never have fully saturated absorbent around our
machines. And they are doing a good job of this. But, in doing so, I also realize
that in some cases, we may transfer to our hazardous waste area, absorbent
that is not fully saturated. It is my determination that we do this rather than
possibly leave it sitting too long.
Thank you for working with LMT to make sure we satisfy compliance demands. I
realize we have still more to do but also trust you realize we are making good
efforts to that goal. We appreciate any directions you give us.
Sin rely,
Donald Merrill, Sec.
