• • SILGAN CONTAINERS CORPORATION, STOCKTON CALIFORNIA JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE & MATERIALS MANAGEMENT Applicable Positions: #9 PLANT SUPERINTENDENT RCRA-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conducts RCRA personnel training requirements with the assistance of the Division Environmental Department • Maintains RCRA job descriptions and associated training needs and keeps information on file for inspections. • Maintains employee training records and ensures all positions are adequately trained. • Maintains the plant safety boards for the HMIS program. • Specifies plant inventory of Personal Protection Equipment. • Serves as a plant Emergency Response Coordinator and directs activities during a spill, fire, reaction, or release involving hazardous waste. • • Decides on, with key managers, strategies and objectives to safely respond to emergencies. • Secures representative waste samples and ensures proper handling of waste samples. Completes and maintains file of waste sampling paperwork. • Provides personal injury assistance; secures outside assistance as needed. SKILLS EDUCATION OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: • High school or college education, or equivalent work experience. • Effective communication skills. • First aid training. • Familiarization with local medical emergency assistance agents. • Working knowledge of chemical hazards and personal protection equipment requirements applicable to the facility. • Working knowledge of the wastes generated and spill and emergency hazards at the plant. • Working knowledge of the plant Contingency Plant for chemical emergencies and spills, including fire and evacuation procedures. • Working knowledge of the labeling, placarding, and shipping paperwork required for hazardous waste. • Knowledge of sampling techniques, documentation and handling procedures. 12
