WORK PLAN ADDENDUM <br /> Determination of the Extent of Contamination from Used Sand <br /> From Sandblasting Boat Bottoms <br /> 1.0 Introduction <br /> This addendum to the Work Plan issued on January 26, 2004,responds to comments <br /> received from the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) on March 5,2004. <br /> DTSC requested a more detailed site plan showing drain paths, and suggested that the <br /> areas where used sandblasting sand was piled be cleaned to background levels. DTSC <br /> also suggested including analyses for zinc in addition to copper. <br /> The balance of the Introduction is unchanged from the Work Plan. <br /> 2.0 Site Description <br /> The site description is unchanged from the Work Plan, except for Figure 2, which has <br /> been revised to include the following: <br /> • Drainage paths for the parking lot, building rain water downcomers, and work <br /> areas. <br /> • Suggested areas for background samples. Final locations will be established in <br /> consultation with the DTSC. <br /> A number of photographs have been included to augment the information in Figure 2. <br /> These follow Figure 2. <br /> 3.0 Purpose of Investigation <br /> The purpose of the investigation is unchanged from the Work Plan. <br /> 4.0 Discussion <br /> The Discussion section is unchanged from the Work Plan. <br /> 5.0 Cleanup Procedure <br /> The cleanup procedure will be modified from that presented in the Work Plan, to include <br /> the following: <br /> • Four soil samples will be taken from an area remote from that where used sand <br /> was piled,to provide background levels for copper and zinc. Suggested locations <br /> for these background samples are shown in Figure 2 as B 1 through 134. The <br /> locations of these background samples will be finalized with the DTSC before <br /> 1 <br />
