C lavTon
Grant Trigger Pae=
Honizman Miller Schwartz and Cohn Clayton Proposal No. 97SFOEMR431
October 7, 1997
The location of all subsurface structures such as pipes, tanks, cables, and utilities within
the property lines of the project site shall be correctly designated by the Client. Clayton
will rely on the accuracy of such information provided by the Client. If the Client fails
to provide such information or the information provided is inaccurate, Clayton shall not
be responsible for the damage caused to the unknown or incorrectly designated
subsurface structures nor for any injury to persons that result from the improper
designation.
The subject site is currently an active manufacturing facility, with a possible significant
amount of pedestrian traffic. The Client will be responsible for providing access to the
site as needed during soil sampling activities. Clayton will not be responsible for standby
time incurred by the project which results from our inability to gain access to the site
during sampling activities.
Task 2: Soil Sample Collection
Clayton's sampling program will focus on fiveareas.where TRPH releases have been
confirmed in the shallow subsurface soils. The following table lists the five areas
identified for additional sampling as follows:
COMPLETED SAMPLES
Sample
Results
Sample No. (TRPH) Location and Site Observations
SS-1 @6" 370 ppm NW comer of Production Building, drum storage area,
open pail with waste oil, dark staining on asphalt
SS-2 @6" 480 ppm N V corner of Production Building, drum storage area,
open pail with waste oil, dark staining on asphalt
SS-4 @6" 230 ppm South side of Production Building near south perimeter
fence, drum storage area, some brown staining on asphalt
SS-5 @6" 3200 South side of Production Building, adjacent to the oil/water
ppm separator
C-15 @6" 770 ppm Unpaved former drum storage area on northwest side of
site
Clayton proposes drilling up to 7 investigative borings using truck-mounted Geoprobe
equipment where access permits. Restricted areas, such as inside the Production
Building, will be drilled by hand auger methods or portable probe equipment. Borings
will typically be advanced to about 4 feet below the ground surface to determine the
vertical extent of surfacial staining. Two borings around the oil/water separator will be
advanced to approximately 16 feet in depth to determine if any significant releases have
occurred. If field screening methods indicate the potential for contamination at the base
K.'Z%IRIPROPOSALWHASEM973 I.WPD
