,KRAZAN &
Construction Testing and
Environmental Er
Laboratory Soils
Monitoring Wells
January 27, 1988
Pasma taros.
113. North Nalnut
Ripon, California 95366
so
ASSOCIATES, INC.
RE- Proposed Soil Drilling and Sampling for Chemical ,'analysis
Previous Underground Storage Tank Removal Site
113 North Walnut, Ripon, California
Proposal
Gentlemen,
In accordance with your request, we are pleased to submit this proposed
work plan for obtaining sail samples from below a backfilled tank removal site
at the above -referenced subject property. It was understood from information
you provided to this office that. a 750 gallon and 1,000 gallon steel underground
storage tanks were unearthed and removed from the subject property sometime
in 1985 or 1986. Soil samples were understood not to have been obtained for
chemical analysis from beneat.h the tanks at. that. time.
In order, to obtain soils samples from beneath the tank removal backfill
area, one soil baring would be advanced through the tank backfill area, in the
approximate center of each previous tank location. The soil borings would be
made by means of a truck mounted drill rig, equipped with hollow -stem auger. It
is anticipated that one soil sample would be obtained at. an approximate depth
of 13 feet below the existing grade. The soil sampling depth of 13 feet below
the existing grade was selected as typically, the 750 to 1000 gallon size tanks
are about 5 feet in diameter, and usually buried about 3 feet below the existing
grade. The sample would be obtained at. an approximate depth of 5 feet below
the existing grade.
The soil samples would be obtained by means of pushing 316 grade stainless
steel tubes. The soil samples would be maintained and transported under chain
of custody protocol to a State -approved laboratory for chemical analysis. It is
Main Office: Fresno/Clovis • 3860 N.
