STATUS REPORTS
Status Reports for active tasks are summarized below:
WORKPLAN
The workplan was revised April 1988 . The revised workplan
presents a revised schedule for completing the approved
July 1987 Workplan tasks . Response to the State ' s Janu-
ary 29 , 1988 comments were incorporated into the revised
workplan in addition to updating workplan tasks to reflect
the status of completed work.
TASK 2--OFFSITE WELLS
1 . Progress Made This Quarter
Locations for six new offsite monitoring wells were
selected. The locations are based on interpretation of
water levels and water quality data from the existing
on and offsite wells , including the six new offsite
wells installed November 1987 . These data indicate
that the offsite plume is narrower than previously
thought. The shape and extent of the plume appears to
be controlled by a trough in the potentiometric
surface. The proposed new well locations have been
selected to address the maximum extent of contamination,
within the trough, downgradient of the site.
2 . Problems Identified
The proposed new well locations have not been approved
by the State. Additional information has been
requested, and will be provided at a meeting between
M&B and the State.
Gold Bond denied M&B access to install the proposed
wells. The RWQCB will be contacting Gold Bond to
assist M&B in obtaining access to this property.
Assuming permission can be obtained by mid-September,
there should not be a delay in the schedule.
3 . Activities Next Quarter
A meeting between the State and M&B has been scheduled
for Thursday, September 1 , to resolve questions regard-
ing offsite well locations, groundwater monitoring, and
other workplan activities .
Mobilization will begin in late September to install
the proposed new offsite wells.
