3 . Activities Next Quarter
Groundwater levels will be measured in all wells . Sam-
ples will be collected and analyzed according to the
revised workplan. The attached table lists the wells
to be sampled. Extraction Well A-9 may be replaced by
converting DSW-6B to an extraction well. Assuming this
is feasible, work may begin this quarter, using the
resources saved by reducing the groundwater monitoring
program.
TASK 4--AQUIFER TESTING
1 . Progress made this quarter
Analysis of the data from the pumping tests was com-
pleted. Lateral hydraulic conductivity ranged from 14
to 49 feet per day (ft/d) , and the ratio of lateral to
vertical hydraulic conductivity was determined to be
approximately 3 :1 .
A technical memorandum describing the pump test proce-
dure , results , and data analysis has been prepared and
submitted separately in August 1988 .
2 . Problems Identified
None.
3 . Activities Next Quarter
None .
4 . Schedule for Completion
The scope of work defined in the workplan has been com-
pleted.
TASK 10--TANK INTEGRITY ASSESSMENT
1 . Progress Made this Quarter
Agreement was reached on how to decommission the re-
maining underground tank at the site. The empty
creosote/oil unloading tank, no longer in use , is
located in the plant site central process area. Soils
in the process area are considered contaminated from
the surface down to the groundwater. The shallow
groundwater under the process area, including the
creosote/oil tank, is contaminated from past practices.
Well A-8 , located in the shallow groundwater near the
tank, is being pumped to remediate groundwater con-
tamination in the process area . Since the tank is
