E-25 Page 4 4.4.3.1 Hake two patches large enough to cover top and edges of flange (Figures 18 and 19). Mork each strip down over edges of -flange and hold down bolts. _ 4.4.3.2 Apply a strip of tape around the circumference of the flange (Figure 20). The tape must be wide enough to be gathered and tucked under the flange, covering the ends of the bolts and ending on the body of the fitting. 4.4.3.3 Apply strip along bottom of fitting and unwrapped section of pipe (Figure 21). Cover top portion of pipe with a strip on each end of fitting. These top strips (Figure 22) must extend up body of fitting overlapping wrap made in step 2. Then run a strip along each side of pipe and fitting overlapping previous strips (Figure 23). 4.4.3.4 Apply strip around sides and bottom of fitting and tucking below flanged top (Figure 24). Make certain all wraps conform to body of fitting without leaving voids and holidays. 4.4.3.5 Using narrower width tape as specified in paragraph 7, start standard double spiral wrap overlapping pipe coating (Figure 25). Extend spiral wrap to fitting and wrap fitting in crisscross pattern (Figure 26). Continue spiral wrap to overlap pipe coating on other side of fitting (Figures 27 and 28). 4.4.4 Flanges (Figures 29 through 34. For illustration 2" wide tape is light colored, 6" wide tape dark colored. ) 4.4.4.1 Wrap a wide strip of tape around the circumference of each flange (Figure 30 and 31). Leave a skirt long enough to gather and conform to the back surface and end of the flange neck. Apply a third strip as above except cover both flanges (Figure 32). ,:�ft 4.4.4.2 Wrap the connected piping -ion- the normal manner (Figure 33) and run one layer of tape over the neck of the flange to complete the wrap and confine the flange wrap ends (Figure 34).
