' Site Assessment Report •
September 24, 1997
Conclusion and Recommendations
The following are Amherst's conclusions and recommendations based on our visual
' assessment of the facility. Actual conditions may vary based on further in-depth
assessment and physical testing.
' General
' At a minimum, this facility appears to have shallow subsurface soil contamination in and
' around pump island #2 as a result of the spill. The likely route of the diesel
contaminates is through the cracks and subsiding concrete in the apron around the
' pump islands.
' Recommendations
Amherst understands that the Health Department has requested that RCP conduct
' destructive testing at the facility to determine the extent of the spill contamination in the
underlying soils. Amherst agrees with the Health Department that some destructive
testing should occur to determine the extent of the contamination.
' Amherst will contact the caseworker at the SJEHD (San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division) and foreword this report on behalf of RCP. Once the contact is initiated,
' Amherst will develop a detailed work plan to assess the suspected contamination in the
area identified above. This work plan will be forwarded to the SJEHD for review and a
permit will be obtained for the assessment work to proceed.
4
