However, contractors are encouraged to adopt similar minimum standards for use at all times. This document <br /> does not coverall DOT requirements,and it is fully the responsibility of the employer and person performing the work to abide by <br /> any and all additional Federal,State,County,or local laws and regulations and manufacturer's requirements that apply to driving <br /> their vehicles.It is also the responsibility of contractors to ensure that subcontractors abide by all applicable safety requirements. <br /> Minimum Required Knowledge <br /> 5.1 VEHICLE REGULATIONS AND STATE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Personnel operating a motor vehicle shall know,and be in compliance with,all applicable federal,state and local motor vehicle <br /> laws.All citations for traffic violations(e.g.speeding,reckless driving,etc.)shall be reported to the employee's supervisor within <br /> 24 hours of the event(unless incapacitated)and may require a fact-finding investigation. In addition,workers shall: <br /> • Have a driver's license which is valid for the type of vehicle being driven. <br /> • Keep driver's licenses in their possession at all times when driving. <br /> • Notify their supervisor immediately,and may not drive If they have a suspended or revoked driver's license. <br /> • Assure that their vehicle is properly insured,and shall carry proof of insurance in the vehicle. <br /> 5.2 USE OF SEAT BELTS <br /> Seat belts shall be worn by all occupants at all times whenever a vehicle is in motion. <br />
