4. PERSONNEL TRAINING <br /> All personnel shall be currently certified under 29 CFR 1910 . 120 <br /> (HAZWOPER) prior to the initiation of any work on the site. All <br /> site personnel will be adequately trained to perform the work <br /> assigned. The suspected site specific hazards will be discussed <br /> with the assigned employees during the pre-entry briefing at the <br /> site prior to initiating any site activity, and as necessary to <br /> ensure that the employees are aware of the details of the SSP. <br /> 5. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Level D if TPHg concentration in air above ground surface is <br /> below 10 ppm: modified level C if above. <br /> 6. Medical Surveillance <br /> A special medical evaluation will be provided if any employee <br /> develops signs and symptoms of overexposure to the suspected site <br /> hazards or becomes exposed to the suspected site hazards in an <br /> emergency incident. <br /> 7. AIR MONITORING PROGRAM <br /> Monitoring shall be done initially to determine the presence of <br /> explosive conditions with a LEL reading of 10% or more by using a <br /> Gastech combustible gas meter. A Gastech hydrocarbon vapor meter <br /> will be used to detect the presence of volatile hydrocarbons_ If <br /> significant levels of hydrocarbon vapor above ground ( i . e. , 10 <br /> ppm) are detected, the SSO will be informed and appropriate <br /> protective measures will be taken. All monitoring equipment <br /> shall be calibrated prior to use. <br /> 8. SITE CONTROL PLAN <br /> All access to the site will be controlled by the SSO who will <br /> also act as the Public Information Officer if necessary. The SSO <br /> will be present on site during the entire operation, and monitor <br /> activities to maintain safe working conditions. <br /> 9. DECONTAMINATION PLAN <br /> The disposable PPE (gloves , etc. ) and any waste generated will be <br /> properly bagged, containerized, labeled and disposed of according <br /> to local , state and federal regulations. <br /> EMERGENCY DECONTAMINATION <br /> If immediate medical treatment is necessary to prevent loss of <br /> life, decontamination can be delayed until the victim is <br /> stabilized. If the victim has been contaminated with a suspected <br /> contaminant decon will be performed immediately. <br />
