' Underground Storage Tank Systoemoval and Assessment
Sears Unit#0555, Tracy, California
t1.0 INTRODUCTION
' This report documents the underground storage tank(UST) system removal and soil assessment
' performed in December 2004,by MACTEC Engineering and Consulting,Inc. (MACTEC) at the Orchard
Supply Hardware Warehouse,Unit#0555 located at 2650 North MacArthur Drive in Tracy, California
(Site). One inactive 750 gallon UST previously containing waste oil and associated piping was removed
from the ground by Three Kings Environmental,Inc. of Battle Ground,Washington(Three Kings). A
' MACTEC geologist was on-site during the UST system removal to observe the UST and soil conditions
and to collect soil assessment samples from the completed excavation. Assessment samples were
' analyzed by Sequoia Analytical Laboratory,Inc. (Sequoia)of Petaluma, California to confirm the
presence or absence of petroleum impacts. After removal of approximately 95 gallons of waste oil,the
UST was loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken to Columbia Resources Company in Vancouver,
' Washington for disposal. Backfilling was completed with the excavation soils and clean and import soils.
The excavation area was resurfaced with approximately three-inch thick asphalt.
The UST was subsequently replaced with a 550 gallon aboveground storage tank(AST)located inside the
twarehouse building. This report also presents general installation and specification details for the AST.
' This report provides site information, describes UST system removal procedures, contains results of the
soil assessment, and presents conclusions and recommendations for this project.
' 1 MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc.
