r * ' <br /> Tailgate Safety Meetings <br /> A tailgate safety meeting will be conducted at the beginning of <br /> each shift or whenever new employees arrive at the job site once <br /> the job commences . The health and safety considerations for the <br /> day' s activities will be discussed, and the necessary protective <br /> equipment outlined. The tailgate safety meeting will be <br /> documented on the Tailgate Safety Meeting Form. <br /> SITE MONITORING <br /> Periodic monitoring will be conducted, at a minimum, during the <br /> initial stages of any new work activity and until assurances are <br /> achieved that indicate airborne levels of contaminants are below <br /> action levels . work tasks of primary concern involve the <br /> r penetration and disturbance of contaminated water and soil such <br /> as excavation and drilling. The monitoring results will dictate <br /> the selection and appropriateness of personal protective <br /> equipment. The extent of monitoring will be based on the suspect <br /> contaminants and the activity to be performed. The H&S <br /> Coordinator will be responsible for this decision based on input <br /> from the Field Supervisor. <br /> Noise Monitoring <br /> All personnel shall wear hearing protection in areas where noise <br /> levels exceed a time-weighted average of 85 dBA for the duration <br /> of exposure. Specifically, hearing protection will be worn <br /> around drilling operations . Noise monitoring may be conducted as <br /> necessary by the H&S Coordinator. Monitoring will be conducted <br /> initially with an ANSI Type 2 sound level meter. Dosimetry will <br /> be conducted if deemed necessary by the H&S Coordinator. <br /> ' PERSONNEL PROTECTION PROGRAM <br /> r The personnel protection program has been defined in this section <br /> based on the hazards discussed in Section 1 . 1 . <br /> Levels of Protection <br /> The level of protection required for this project will be based <br /> upon the hazards and conditions of the work site.
