' A complete IT approved first-aid kit will be readily <br /> available on-site. <br /> • If a serious injury occurs, the local emergency <br /> response team will be summoned to tend to and evacuate <br /> the injured person, as necessary. <br /> 1 Fire extinguishers will be on-site in work vehicles . <br /> In the event of an emergency, these extinguishers will <br /> ' be ready for the workers' safety and protection. <br /> Site Drilling <br /> Site drilling will comply with the following rules : <br /> • Before drilling or excavating, the existence and <br /> location of underground pipe, electrical equipment, <br /> and gas lines shall be determined. This will be done <br /> t by contacting Underground Service Alert (USA) at least <br /> 48 hours in advance of subcontractor arrival, to mark <br /> the location by use of appropriate device, such as a <br /> flux-gate magnetometer, to locate ferrometallic <br /> underground lines . <br /> • Drill equipment operators and helpers in proximity to <br /> ' the drilling equipment will wear a full complement of <br /> protective gear. Wearing of all PPE including safety <br /> glasses, gloves and hard hats is mandatory. <br /> Heavy Equipment Operation and Heavv Materials Handling <br /> ' The following procedures will be established around heavy <br /> equipment such as backhoes and drill rigs and during handling of <br /> heavy materials : <br /> • Hard hats and vests are to be worn at all times on- <br /> site . Other protective gear as specified in the <br /> ' health and safety plan is also applicable. <br /> • Safe distances must be maintained from underground or <br /> ' overhead power lines, sewer lines, gas lines, <br /> telephone lines, or power lines that present a hazard <br /> in the work area. <br /> t Operators of trucks and heavy equipment used on-site <br /> will be properly trained in the inspection and <br /> operation of such equipment .
