Hydrostatic Sensor Installation Guide Single-Point Hydrostatic Sensor Installation
Single-Point Hydrostatic Sensor Installation
1. Tum Off power to the console.
2. Riser Cap Installation
a. If you have the plastic riser cap kit
Place the cord grip bushing into either of the threaded fittings in the plastic cap and screw the cord grip
nut over the bushing. With the nut loose, push the end of the sensor cable through the cord grip-don't
tighten the cable cord grip at this time. Place the cap in the riser and snap down the cap lever to seat the
gasket against the inside of the pipe.Screw the vent cap down snugly onto the other threaded fitting on
the riser cap.
b. If you have the metal riser cap and vent tube
Install the vent tube into one of the cord grips in the metal riser cap (ref. Figure 5) and tighten the cord
grip. Loosen the other cord grip and push the sensor cable through it-don't tighten the cable cord grip at
this time.Place the cap in the riser and snap down the cap lever to seat the gasket against the inside of the
pipe.
3. Install the cord grip from the Sensor Install Kit into the field junction box Push the sensor cable into the
junction box through the cord grip.Using the wire nuts from the Sensor Install Kit,connect the sensor cable
to the console cable as shown in Figure 3.Tighten cord grip.
4. Seal wire nuts with epoxy sealant following the instructions in the Dual-Point Hydrostatic procedure(Step 6.
) above.
5. Tum On power to the console.
6. With the sensor resting on the top of the tank, mark the cable position at the riser cap with a piece of tape.
7. Pull the sensor up until it triggers an alarm on the console.Mark the cable position at the top of the cap with
a piece of tape.
8. Lower the sensor until the riser cap is halfway between the taped marks on the cable.
9. Secure the sensor in position by tightening the table cord grip in the cap (see Figure 5).
Vent tube-CAUTION _ 14"min.dia.
tube must remain clear. manhole Cord grip
Concrete slab
or packed earth
per NFPA 80
Riser pipe cap (((JJJ tl Seal-off
Adjustable lead cable \\ t ons conduit(too Console)
Single-point
hydrostatic sensor Weatherproof field
~Riser pipe wiring junction box
Brine level
.i Reservoir
Double-wall tank
"wrsms"sni.eos
Figure 5.
