• SECTION A
SUMMARY OF WORK
This section provides a summary of the planned removal activities at Tracy
Auxiliary Field No. 5, Tracy, California. It also provides a brief description of site
background, scope of work, permits, approach, and estimated schedule for the
project.
A1.0 SITE BACKGROUND
Tracy Municipal Airport or Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5 is located in the City of Tracy,
San Joaquin County, California. Figure A-1 shows the site location. The field was
operated as an auxiliary landing field during the period from 1942 to 1947. It is now
serving commuter flights.
Records and geophysical survey indicate that there is a high probability that an
underground storage tank (UST) is present in a vacant area west of the main
entrance and south of Hanger No. 3. Figure A-2 shows approximate tank location
and Figure A-3 shows features in the tank area. This tank has a capacity of
10,000-gallon and contains diesel fuel.
• A2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for Delivery Order No. 0012 will entail the following:
• Flushing the contents of the fuel lines into the 10,000-gallon UST and
removal and disposal of liquids and sludge in the tank.
• Removal and disposal of the 10,000-gailon USr.
• Removal and disposal of approximately 100 linear feet of fuel lines.
• Sampling and analysis of soil and water present in the excavation.
• Sampling excavated, stockpiled soil and disposing of contaminated soil.
• Compacting and final grading surfaces to match the original grade of the
site.
Required permits and approach are presented in the sections that follow.
A-1
