i • <br /> • • The spill will be controlled and contained by trained personnel with proper <br /> protective gear. <br /> • The hazardous area will be isolated; unnecessary personnel will be kept out of <br /> the area. <br /> • Potentially affected individuals will be evacuated as necessary. <br /> • Combustible materials will be kept away from the spill material. <br /> • Water spraying, foaming, or other approved methods will be used to reduce vapor <br /> and dust emissions. <br /> • Air, soil, or other necessary samples will be collected and analyzed to determine <br /> if cleanup is complete. <br /> • A spill incident report will be prepared after cleanup is completed. <br /> The following additional emergency procedures will be performed when a spill occurs <br /> during transportation: <br /> • • In the event of a major spill or a spill which threatens to contaminated a <br /> waterway, a responsible agency (police or fire department) will be notified to <br /> assist in containment until the emergency spill response team arrives with the <br /> proper equipment and materials. <br /> • The transport vehicle will be moved to the nearest impermeable surface and as <br /> far from the traffic and pedestrian as possible. <br /> • The leaking container will be located and plugged if possible. The liquid will be <br /> contained by constructing a dike with absorbent pads or granules. <br /> • Warning triangles will be placed around the vehicle and spectators will be kept at <br /> a distance. <br /> • The leaking container will be recontainerized if possible. <br /> • <br /> E-2 <br />
