EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Tracy Municipal Airport or Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5 is located in the City of Tracy,
San Joaquin County, California. The field was operated as an auxiliary landing field
during the period from 1942 to 1947. It is now serving commuter flights.
Results of a recent geophysical survey indicated that there is a high probability that
an underground storage tank (UST) is present in a vacant area west of the main
entrance and south of Hanger No. 3. This tank is estimated to have a capacity of
10,000-gallon and contains diesel fuel. In this Delivery Order, CKY will locate,
remove, and dispose of the UST, product in the UST, and approximately 100 linear
feet of fuel lines. A minimum of 15 cubic yards of fuel-contaminated soil, if any, will
also be removed. The excavation will be backfilled with clean soil and compacted.
No resurfacing will be necessary. The goal is to safely remove the UST, fuel (if
any), and associated fuel lines and dispose of them at approved offsite facilities.
After the UST and associated piping are removed, soil samples will be collected at
the bottom of excavation and pipe trenches to assess if contaminated soil has been
removed. A sample of groundwater, if encountered, will also be collected to assess
if the groundwater is impacted. The purpose of sampling and analysis is to obtain
representative samples and defensible laboratory data for proper disposal of the
UST and associated waste materials.
ES-1
