SECTION B
SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PLAN
B1.0 SITE BACKGROUND
Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5 is located in the City of Tracy, San Joaquin County,
California. The Field was operating as an auxiliary landing field during the period
form 1942 to 1947. It is currently operated as Tracy Municipal Airport, but there
was not much on-going activity at the airport during the site visit in mid-March,
1995.
Site environmental setting data are not available at the Corps of Engineers Office
for review. The COR and technical manager have been contacted for this
information.
Major tasks in this Delivery Order include:
• Removal and disposal of one 10,000-gallon underground storage tank.
• Disposal of contaminated soil, if any.
• Removal and disposal of 100 linear feet of fuel lines.
B2.0 DATA QUALITY OBJECTIVES
This is a simple tank removal assignment that involves sampling and analysis of
soil and groundwater (if encountered in tank excavation). The chemical data
obtained at the Tracy Municipal Airport is intended to provide the concentrations of
total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)-diesel, TPH-gasoline, aromatic hydrocarbons,
and lead in soil and groundwater. These concentrations will be used to document
the levels of petroleum contamination remaining in soil after the excavation of the
UST and fuel lines. There are no requirements for the spatial and temporal aspects
of the environmental media that the data must represent. There are no cleanup or
action levels to be followed within the scope of work. There is no decision to be
made with respect to tank removal or additional excavation within the scope of
work.
Other important measures of project data quality such as precision, accuracy,
representativeness, completeness, and comparability are described in the CDQMP,
Section C of the GMP.
i
B-1
