u .J <br /> Costco <br /> Designated Operator Training <br /> UST review (tank diagram/photos) <br /> • Show how alarm panel,tanks, and dispensers are connected <br /> • Gas in sump/UDC is dangerous and law requires immediate response <br /> • Show how fuel can get to sumps &UDC's causes alarms on the alarm panel <br /> • Ask who has seen people smoking out on forecourt? <br /> • Explain how gas is volatile&flammable—vapors can ignite <br /> • Informed that tampering with or disabling monitoring equipment is against the law(employee can <br /> be prosecuted). <br /> Additive Tank <br /> The additive tank stores Costco's fuel additive which is pumped into the gasoline USTs and where it is <br /> blended with the gasoline. <br /> • The additive is a flammable liquid, like gasoline, and should be treated in the same manner with <br /> regard to spills. <br /> • The tank will alarm just as the gasoline tanks. <br /> • Spill buckets should also be inspected daily and maintained clean and dry as with fuel tanks. <br /> • If absorbent pads are used prior to dropping additive into the tank in order to collect small spills, <br /> make sure these pads are removed after each delivery. <br /> • If the automatic pump is not functioning, Costco employees can access directions for using the <br /> manual pump at the Costco Gasoline Home Page click"Kirkland Clean Power",then on the <br /> Kirkland Clean Power page, under Training Documents click "Hand Pump Operation". <br /> Alarms <br /> • Employees shown alarm panel or panels location <br /> • Alarm Response—ask who has responded to alarms and what did they do? <br /> o FMS is remotely monitoring any priority alarms suggesting a potential release. <br /> o FMS will contact site to confirm alarm. FMS can be contacted at(800) 997-7725 Ext#4& <br /> #1. <br /> o Maintenance contractor will usually be dispatched for alarm response <br /> o Alarm Log Location—Document date, time, alarm type, and action taken <br /> o Receive work order form from maintenance contractor for clearing alarm condition—need <br /> to be able to prove that there was no problem or problem was fixed <br /> o File document(s) in designated binder/file system <br /> o Alarm panel inspected daily. Panel should indicate"All Functions Normal"—ask who is <br /> responsible for this?Supervisor? <br /> o Verify all alarms responded to except delivery needed. If an overfill alarm occurs on the <br /> monitoring panel and alarm outside then verify that the driver does not spill. <br /> o If a cold start occurs, a monitor certification will be performed (Costco policy). Always <br /> notify the warehouse manager and Dennis Bock if a cold start occurs. <br /> Emergency Procedures <br /> • Emergency Contacts/"Quick" Procedures <br /> o Ask who knows where to find emergency procedures and phone numbers? <br /> o Employees are shown emergency contact numbers and procedures guide. Emergency <br /> Contact List posted in Data Hut. <br /> o Review contents in general <br /> o Important to have accurate 24 hour site contact warehouse manager and Costco Hotline <br /> (425)313-8001 Ext#1.
