Permanently abandon remaining product lines (from <br /> pub islands to tank area) by filling lines with a concrete slurry or flush with <br /> water, and cap if permitted by local regulations. <br /> Owner's Representative and Contractor shall inspect open excavation for evidence of <br /> product leakage. <br /> 8. Take soil samples from each corner and from the middle of the tank excavation after <br /> the existing tanks have been removed and submit to a qualified laboratory for <br /> analysis for aromatic hydrocarbon (gasoline) content. A copy of the soil analysis, <br /> including location of samples, sampling methods, test procedures and test results <br /> shall be furnished to the Fire Prevention Bureau and to the Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board. Soil samples shall be taken by an independent qualified technician. <br /> 9. The following instructions shall apply to removal and disposal of any and all tanks. <br /> a. Contractor agrees to take title to used storage tanks and dispsoe of them as <br /> scrap metal in a safe and lawful manner. <br /> (Contractor understands that such tanks have been used for the storage of fuel <br /> and/or oil and are unfit for the storage of edible or potable products.) <br /> 10. a. Owner shall in no event be liable to Contractor for any claims, demands, damages <br /> or liability arising out of the disposal or any use of these storage tanks, and <br /> Contractor agrees to hold Owner harmless and release, protect, defend, and <br /> indemnify Owner for such claims, demands, damages or liability whether Owner is <br /> negligent actively, passively or not at all. <br /> Tank which has contained leaded gasoline may give off extremely toxic vapor when <br /> heated by welding or cutting. <br /> b. A shipping tag, rubber-stanped with the following statement, shall be wired <br /> securely around a plug in one side of the tank openings: ("THIS TANK NOT SAFE <br /> FOR ANY MATERIAL DESTINED FOR HUMAN OR AN= CONSU=CN. IT HAS BEEN USED FOR <br /> GASOLINE POSSIBLY CONTAINING TEIRRA= LEAD, A POISON.") <br /> 11. Contractor is to provide Owner with receipt from disposal company. Tanks are to be <br /> cut up into sections. The steel is to be sold for scrap and possible remelting in <br /> the manufacture of new steel, all interior surface of any plates which have been in <br /> contact with sludge should be sandblasted or wire-brushed to bare metal. <br /> 12. The Contractor shall ensure that steel tanks have been cut up into sections and that <br /> all interior surfaces of any plates which have been in contact with sludge must be <br /> sandblasted or wire brushed to bare metal, and that any waste is disposed of as <br /> hazardous material. The steel is to be sold for scrap and remelting in the <br /> manufacturer of new steel. <br /> PROVIDE OWNER WITH RECEIPT FROM DISPOSAL COMPANY <br />
