Page 10 of 13 <br /> 3. When piping is placed on the bed, proceed to "First Test" (below) prior to <br /> backfilling trenches. <br /> 6-150.12 TESTING OF PIPING <br /> A. Notify the Owner's Representative, who MUST observe all tests, at least 24 hours in <br /> advance of any tests. <br /> B. The Contractor is responsible for all labor, material, and equipment to conduct <br /> pressure tests (air or hyrdostatic) of all product, vent and vapor recovery piping. <br /> C. FIRST TEST (Prior To Backfilling Pipe Trenches) : Do not connect piping to tanks, <br /> remote pumps or dispensers. <br /> 1. The entire piping system, i.e. , product, vent and vapor recovery (where <br /> applicable) , shall be tested in accordance with the following three step <br /> procedure. <br /> PRIMARY PIPE: <br /> a. Step One: Install pressure application system that includes two pressure <br /> gauges (15 psig maxiimm) . Apply 10 psig pressure to each piping system. <br /> Soap all joints using approved soap solution. Carefully observe each joint <br /> for evidence of leaks. <br /> b. Step Two: Protect area around piping systems to be tested to prevent <br /> workmen, passers-by, etc., from entry. Install pressure application system <br /> that includes two pressure gauges (150 psig maxi=) . Apply 60-75 psig <br /> pressure to each piping system, hold for 30 minutes, release pressure. <br /> c. CAUTION: Be sure to disconnect at tank or submerged pump before applying <br /> air. <br /> d. SECOND TEST (BEFORE BACKFILLING AND PAVING) : APPLIES TO TANKS AND PRODUCT <br /> LINES. <br /> SECONDARY CONTAINMENT PIPE: <br /> e. Step Three: Protect area around piping systems to be tested to prevent <br /> workmen, passers-by, etc. , from entry. Install pressure application system <br /> that includes two pressure gauges (10 psig maximum) . Apply 5 psig pressure <br /> to each piping system, hold for 30 minutes, release pressure. <br /> 2. CONTRACTOR SHALL ARRANGE AND PAY FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF A STATE CERTIFIED <br /> PRECISION TEST (PETRO-TITS, HUNTER OR NDE TECH.) OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM PRIOR TO <br /> COVERING TANES AND PRODUCT PIPING. TEST SHALL BE CONDUCTED USING WATER OR <br /> PRODUCT. NOTIFY OWNER 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF WHEN CONTRACTOR IS READY FOR <br /> TEST. <br /> 6-151 ELECTRICAL WORK <br />
