PENNING
(209) 333-6706
FAX (209) 333-6710
July 13, 1998
Public Health Services
Attn: Margaret Lagorio, Supervisor
304 East Weber Ave., Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
SUBJECT: City Of Lodi - Underground Storage Tanks (USTs)
The City of Lodi is in receipt of Eric Travena's inspection reports dated May 19, 1998
and your letter dated May 21, 1998. Mr. Travena's inspection reports concerned work
needed to bring the City's USTs into compliance with current regulations. The purpose
of this letter is a continuance to the response to the inspection reports.
Two inspections reports were received. One each for 230 W. Elm Street and
1331 S. Ham Lane. The report for 230 W. Elm Street listed eight (8) items and the
following are responses for Items 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8:
Public Safety Building (PSB)
• Item 2 - Enclosed are the monitoring equipment operability test results showing they
are in good condition.
• Item 3 - Enclosed are the annual product line test results showing passing condition.
• Item 5 - Enclosed are the results of tank #4 integrity test showing passing condition.
• Item 7 - Enclosed is a copy of the cathotic protection (CP) reports showing further
results of CP testing. The tests show that the tanks at the PSB are receiving
adequate protection at this time. But the standby anodes installed at the time of
construction, but not hooked up, are scheduled to be hooked up on July 17'h. A final
report will be issued at that time.
• Item 8 - Conversations with the Emco-Wheaton Equipment representative who
manufactured our current overfill protection system has noted that our system is not
listed with the California Air Resource Board as an approved system, but there is still
no definitive answer as to whether the system can be modified or needs to be
replaced. The representative is still researching the situation.
LPBLICHLTH_UST
