The site is currently occupied
by Frank's Exxon #2, which is an operating gasoline station. This report summarizes the
subsurface investigation results undei taken at the site since 1988. Aegis Environmental, Inc.
(Aegis), was retained in January 1991 to complete the investigation. This report is based, in
part, on information obtained by Aegis from Moore Petroleum, Inc., illations Groundwater
I r Associates(NGA), Earth Treatment Systems (ETS),and Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc.
(Delta), and is subject to modification as newly-acquired information may warrant.
1,.1 Purpose
The purpose of Aegis' investigation at the site was to:
Characterize the subsurface soil and hydrogeologic conditions;
Assess the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soils and the
groundwater beneath the site; and,
'E
' i Evaluate the need for further assess.neat and/or mitigation of petroleum
constituents in soil and groundwater beneath the site.
1.2e
The scope of the subsurface investigation completed by Aegis is summarized below.
i Methods used in the investigation are included in Appendix A.
I
On February 1, 1991, water samples were collected from three on site
i monitoring wells (MW-1A, MW-2, and MW-3) and submitted to a state-certified
laboratory for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethyibenzene, and xylenes (STEX),
for ethylene dibromide(EDB), 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC),and for total petroleum
i hydrocarbons (TPH), as gasoline. Water levels in the wells were measured and
{ _ recorded.
On February 27, 1991, an additional water sample was collected from MW-1A
and submitted to the laboratory for analysis of BTEX, EDB, EDC, and TPH, as
gasoline. Water levels in all three on site wells were measured and recorded.
On April 1, 1991, water levels in the three on site wells were measured and
recorded.
3 i ,
On April 18, 1991, a quarterly groundwater monitoring report was submitted.
..'
