So many times we receive only a letter and
are faced with interpretation and communication problems. It was very helpful to be able to discuss all the
issues with you.
We have one objection to the inspection report delivered, regarding your count of how many loose tires
were on site during the original 9/16/05 visit. We have always understood the waste tire count to not
include the tires in our customer area, which are for sale. In our meeting with you, you explained that all
the loose tires (not attached to a vehicle axle, or used as a stand) in the customer area would be counted
as waste tires. You further explained that you counted 15,000 such tires during your 9/16/05 visit. We feel
that this number must be incorrect.
In fact, after the phone call we received from your co-worker Jennie Ruiz, on 9/20/05, we began picking
up all the loose tires from the store and hauling them off for disposal. Our records show that we disposed
of approximately 3,000 tires (all manifested) by the time of your re-visit on 9/27/05. There were
approximately 1,200 from the production area and approximately 200 sold to customers, which means we
picked up approximately 2,000 from the customer area. During your second visit on 9/27/05, you
appeared to agree with our estimate that there were approximately 500 loose tires in the customer area.
This should show that there could not have been anywhere close to 15,000 during your initial visit, but in
fact would be closer to 2,500— 3,000. Please respond to this at your convenience, so we have some
record of whether or not you agree with this assessment.
For now, we are striving to keep all loose tires on the entire property to less than 1,500. We have adopted
some new procedures that we feel will keep us within this limit. We look forward to your next visit to show
you that we can comply with this regulation.
USA
CA: FAIRFIELD FRESNO • MERCED • MODESTO • MOSS LANDING NEWARK I • NEWARK II •OAKLAND •RANCHO I - RANCHO II • REDDING • RICHMOND - ROCKLIN
SACRAMENTO SAN JOSE NORTH • SAN JOSE SOUTH - STOCKTON WINDSOR • NV: SPARKS -CARSON CITY • UT: SALT LAKE CITY • IN: HAMMOND •
IL: SUMMIT • TX: DALLAS • MO: KANSAS CITY - SAINT LOUIS • VA: VIRGINIA BEACH • OH: COLUMBUS
CANADA
AB: EDMONTON - CALGARY • BC: KELOWNA
Administrative Office: 7590 Stockton Boulevard • Sacramento, CA 95823-3970
Phone: 916-689-2000 • Fax: 916-682-6220
