August 26, 1993
140.0301.001
AUG 2 7 1993
Public Health Services ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
San Joaquin County PERMIT/SERVICES
P.O. Box 2009
445 N. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, California 95201
Attention Mr. Michael J. Infu ma Jr., R.E.H.S. N0 ;
TRANSAMTAL
ANALYTICAL DATA AND CONCLUSIONS r N6T lAf
1044 SOUTH AURORA STREET
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Infurna:
As requested, this letter presents a summary of investigation work performed and analytical
data collected by PFS Environmental Inc (PES) for Sims-LMC Recyclers (LMC) during their
pre-acquisition assessment of the property located at 1044 South Aurora in Stockton. This
work was performed under permit number 92-3454 issued by the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services.
OVERVIEW OF INVESTIGATION AND FINDINGS
PFS conducted the site investigation on October 13, 1992 which consisted of angering nine
shallow soil borings to a maximum depth of 3.0 feet below ground surface. The locations of
the borings are presented on the attached site plan. Soil samples were collected at :lepths of
2.5 and 3.0 feet in each of the borings. These depths represent the first encountered fine
grained soil under a layer of compacted gravel fill with some evidence of asphaltic material.
This fill material was apparently imported to improve the surface of the site for traffic and
torage purposes. Upon collection of soil samples, the gravel surfacing materials were
replaced within the shallow holes to the ground surface resulting in (1) no change to the near
surface soil conditions and (2) no possibility of providing a potential conduit for contaminants
to impact the subsurface.
Soil samples were collected and composited in the laboratory to prepare three samples for
chemical analysis. The compositing sequence and the results of the chemical analysis are
presented on the attached Tables i and 2 for organic and inorganic contaminant indicators
respectively. The laboratory reports, prepared by Coast-to-Coast Analytical Services are also
1682 Novato Boulevard • Suite 100 • Novato, California 94947 • (415) 899-1600 • FAX (415) 899-1601
