Lodi Ready Mix Page 1 <br /> Site Closure Report <br /> Appendix D <br /> May 12,1995 <br />' The following sections and explanations are offered in support of closure <br /> requests as outlined in the August 10, 1990 Tri-Regional Board Staff <br /> Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of <br /> Underground Tank Site,Table #3 Section II Closures <br />' Site History <br /> 1) Two 1,000 gallon capacity carbon steel USTs installed in or about 1952. <br />' Their condition upon removal was indicated to be rusted and pitted but no <br /> visible holes (UST closure inspection report 12/19/89). On February 5, 1990 <br /> PHS/EHD was officially notified of the unauthorized release which was <br /> detected during the tank removal operations. <br /> 2) Inventory records were not available for review therefore an estimation of <br />' volume of product lost is unavailable. <br /> 3) A March 17, 1988 precision test showed that the tanks were considered <br />' sound at time of testing. A visibly leaking pump gasket and union were <br /> identified during the inspection which were reportedly in the process of being <br /> repaired. <br /> 4) Lodi Ready Mix operates as a bulk concrete loading facility. <br />' 5) Records indicating the amount of product pumped each month were not <br /> available and therefore is not known. <br /> 6) A water well survey was not required by the LOP and therefore was not <br /> conducted during the soil investigation. <br /> 7) Methods of investigation used to prepare this report involved checking <br /> PHS/EHD records and conducting personal interviews. <br />' Site Characteristics <br />' 1) Stained soil and hydrocarbons odors were noted during the UST removal. <br /> 2) No subjective observations were made as to the geologic composition of <br /> ' the UST excavation other than the soil at 9.5 feet was a sandy clay/clay loam. <br /> 3) A facility map showing utility lines, surface water bodies is not available. <br /> 1 <br />
