1 LEVINE•FRICKE <br /> focus of the assessment was onossible impacts of agricultural <br /> P P g zcultural <br /> chemicals associated with such use. <br /> 3.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The Scope of Work performed in this investigation to accomplish <br /> this objective included: <br /> 1 1) A review of background information concerning the Site set- <br /> ting and history of Site usage from data obtained during <br /> Levine•Fricke's recently completed assessment of the <br /> Brookside Ranch Site, which is located directly south of the <br /> Site ("Environmental Site Assessment Report, Brookside Devel- <br /> opment Site, San Joaquin County, California", December 8, <br /> 1988) . This included a review of aerial photographs cover- <br /> ing the Site dating 1937, 1952, 1963, 1984 and 1988, county <br /> maps for the years 1895 and 1905, and USGS topographic maps <br /> dated 1952 and 1968 (photo revised in 1976) ; <br /> 1 2) A field inspection of the Site and neighboring properties <br /> (Performed by Mr. Scott Seyfried on December 29, 1988, and <br /> Ms. Beth Gurney and Ms. Kati Neidig on October 19, 1988) ; <br /> 1 3) A review of regulatory records concerning the Site and neigh- <br /> boring properties obtained during the Brookside Ranch Site <br /> Assessment (as outlined in the above-cited report) ; <br /> 4) Sampling and laboratory analysis of soil and ground water at <br /> the Site to assess the possible presence of chemicals associ- <br /> ated with potential on- and off-site sources; <br /> 5) Evaluation of the data obtained from the above activities, <br /> and preparation of this written report. <br /> 4.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> 4.1 Physical Features <br /> The Site is an active agricultural ranch, with row crops covering <br /> most of the Site acreage. A Quonset but and storage area con- <br /> taining two above-ground diesel tanks are located in the nor- <br /> theast corner of the Site. The Site is transected by a number of <br /> irrigation ditches and a drainage canal which drains to the Four- <br /> teenmile Slough (Figure 2) . Two irrigation influent pumps, which <br /> pump water from the Fourteenmile slough into the irrigation <br /> ditches, and the drainage canal effluent outfall are located <br /> along the bank of the Fourteenmile Slough (Figure 2) . No access <br /> roads enter into the cultivated area of the Site. The Site is <br /> 1 bordered by flood levees on the north, west, and east sides. <br /> -2- <br />
