Fueling operations at the Site began in 1996. The underground
storage tank (UST) complex consists of two 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs and one
20,000-gallon diesel UST.
During groundwater monitoring at the nearby Flag City Chevron station in March 2002,
methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) was detected in an upgradient Chevron monitoring well
(MW-8A) at 700 micrograms per Liter (Ng/L). MW-8A had been non-detect for MtBE for
ten prior sampling events (seven quarters). Groundwater at MW-8A remained impacted
after groundwater monitoring ceased for Chevron; however, MtBE concentrations had
declined to 74 ug/L by December 2006. Four additional upgradient Chevron wells
MW-19A/B (in Banner Street, south of the Site dispensers) and MW-20A/B (McDonalds
restaurant parking lot), installed and sampled in May and December of 2004, reported
MTBE up to 5,300 ug/L.
In April 2005, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
issued an unauthorized release for the Site. Six monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2,
MW-3A, MW-313, MW-4A, and MW-4B) were installed onsite by August 2005. MtBE
was detected at 56,000 pg/L in MW-3A, located 20' downgradient of the Site USTs and
screened at 10' to 25' below ground surface (bgs) in the designated A zone. MtBE was
also detected at 360 pg/L in MW-4B, located approximately 215' southeast of the Site
KAR_ E. -omcLEv SCD, P.E.. cIWR I PAMELA C CREeoorr P.E.. ©CEL ExEcu.rvE oreiceR
11020 Sun Cerner❑rive rv290,Rancno Cordova.CA 95570 ww warerboartlsca.9ovmenvalvaliey
t)r.L OVOl El'Ier Is
