Mr. Larry Pierson
April 19 , 1991
Page 2
Based on this preliminary investigation, we have no evidence of
BTEX in groundwater and believe groundwater is unlikely to be
impacted by BTEX leached from the soil due to the low soil BTEX
levels. Chevron intends to conduct a further investigation to
better define the conditions at the site, specifically focusing on
the single monitoring well that showed some liquid hydrocarbon.
This may be a localized impact from the old Central Valley Crude
Line rather than the operations of the Lyoth Loading Station.
We plan to commence the additional investigatory work in June. All
results will be forwarded to you when they become available.
Please advise us before June if you have any comments or would like
to meet with us to discuss this investigation. I may be reached at
the letterhead address or at (415) 894-6713 .
Sincerely,
Jane Doty MacKenzie
Coordinator - Superfund and
Company Site Management
JDM
cc: Mr. Ronald E.
