HEALTH and SAFETY PLAN <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> 8) Oil Equipment Service will use proper equipment for the <br /> excavating . No undersize or bad mechanical equipment will <br /> be used . All heavy equipment will be supported properly . <br /> 9) Oil Equipment Service will provide safety hats , goggles , and <br /> clothing to employees at the job site as per OSHA regulation <br /> 29 CFR 1910 . 120 . Caution will be noted that a heat stress <br /> situation may develop when impermeable protective clothing is <br /> worn . <br /> 10) Oil Equipment Service will hold a shop meeting before start of <br /> tank removals to discuss safety procedures . The ' buddy system ' <br /> will be discussed and the course of action to be taken should <br /> an injury occur to an employee . Some of the many rules to be <br /> discussed to help prevent injury or accident are : 1) avoid <br /> standing on edge of hole - surface maybe slippery or rusty , <br /> 2) check for falling objects , slipping , and tripping hazards , <br /> 3) visqueen sheeting will be used if secured with construction <br /> barricades and warning signs posted to prevent the exposure of <br /> unauthorized , unprotected people to site hazards , 5) limit <br /> exposure time to noisy equipment , G) keep a safe distance from <br /> the excavation and heavy equipment , 7) stay up-wind from the <br /> hole and/or excavation to avoid unnecessary exposure whenever <br /> possible , 8) limit exposure by minimizing the exposure time and <br /> maximizing the distance to the source of vapor release , 9) <br /> do not enter the excavation . <br /> 11) Oil Equipment Service shall provide San Joaquin Public Health <br /> Service a map of the nearest hospital and route to be taken <br /> should an injury occur . A copy of the map will also be on <br /> the job site . A copy of the map is attached . <br /> 12) No MSdS Sheets are included as the tank removed was a waste <br /> oil and stored NO certain specific products for which MSOS <br /> Sheets are available . <br /> 13) We will install a temporary wind direction indicator on site <br /> adjacent to the work area on days we work on site as no <br /> permanent wind direction indicator exists at the site . <br /> 14) Please refer to attachment No . 1 . <br /> 15) There are no other known Health or Safety risks near this hole <br /> at this site . <br /> 16) Air will be monitored by an LEL Meter which was calibrated in <br /> June , 1992 . <br /> L;1th4A —Toallia , <br /> Site Safety Officer <br />
