Chevron has
scheduled demolition and rebuild of the station beginning in March 2005, including removal
of existing underground storage tank (UST) facilities, piping, and fuel dispensers (Figure 2).
Due to the extent of station demolition activities, the possibility of jeopardizing the integrity
of the onsite wells exists. Therefore, SECOR proposes to properly destroy all wells before
site demolition occurs and to install six replacement groundwater monitoring wells after the
completion of construction. (Figure 3). During construction six 18 inch well boxes will be
installed prior to paving.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is an active service station located at the northwest corner of Benjamin Holt Drive
and Plymouth Road in Stockton, California. The service station was constructed in 1973
and was renovated to include additional pump islands and product lines in the winter of late
1996 to early 1997. Current station features include four double-walled, fiberglass UST's in
a common excavation, a station building, six product dispensers under a common canopy,
and a car wash.
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
There are seven onsiteroundwater monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5,
9 9
MW-7, and MW-9) and ten soil vapor extraction/air sparge wells (VW-1, GM-1, GM-2,
GM-3, GM-4, GM-5, GM-6, GM-7, GM-8 and GM-9) located at the site. All wells will be
destroyed in accordance with San Joaquin County requirements and with Bulletin 74-90:
California Well Standards, California Department of Water Resources, June 1991.
I:\Chevron\94275\REPORTS\2005\Work Plan for Well destruction&USTRemoval-2005.doc
