v
California where each will be properly destroyed by Erickson, Incorporated.
(7) Corrective action taken to date includes the excavation and stockpiling of piping backfill
material. Soil stockpiles were characterized according to those procedures specified by San
Joaquin County Public Health Services. Pending results of the characterization, stockpiles
will be hauled offsite for disposal or petitioned for reuse onsite. Further corrective action is
being performed on preexisting soil and groundwater contamination according to details
described in Geraghty&Miller's Corrective Action Plan dated August 2, 1995. The remedial
activities described in the corrective action plan will adequately address any potential impact
to groundwater that the latest unauthorized release(s)may cause.
Several environmental investigations have been performed at the subject site in response to
prior release(s). The extent of soil and groundwater contamination has been adequately
defined. Quarterly groundwater monitoring has occurred since March, 1989 and is
continuing in nine site-related wells.
A final report documenting all piping removal activities, soil stockpile characterization, and
disposition will be submitted to San Joaquin County Public Health Services within 45 days of
completing all stockpile characterization activities.
The need for future site investigation will be determined upon review of the results from the
corrective action activities.
(8) The method of cleanup implemented to date has been limited to the overexcavation of
backfill material and hydrocarbon-impacted soil from the removal of former UST's in 1989.
Additional cleanup activities will proceed according to the Corrective Action Plan dated
August 2, 1995. The installation of remediation equipment is currently underway. The
proposed remediation system start-up date is November 29, 1996. Remediation will continue
until site clean-up goals have been met.
(9) A total of approximately one hundred and forty cubic yards of soil were stockpiled at the
subject site. This backfill material was generated during the removal of all piping. An
estimated one hundred and fifty cubic yards of additional soil should be generated during
further underground trenching that is to be performed. All stockpiled soil has and will be
sampled by Touchstone Developments according to those protocol specified by San Joaquin
County Public Health Services. Once stockpile characterization has been performed,
permission will be requested to reuse as much as possible onsite as trench backfill material.
Those stockpiles unable to be reused onsite will be transported to BFI Vasco Road Landfill in
Livermore, California for disposal.
(10)All new underground storage tanks and lines are being installed under permit by San
Joaquin County Public Health Services.
(11)Future releases will be prevented through the installation of underground storage and
dispensing equipment that meets or exceeds all applicable regulations.
2652 (d) Chevron will comply with all reporting requirements specified within this subsection.
(e) Chevron will conduct initial abatement, site characterization, and additional corrective
action as specified within this subsection, within sections 2653, 2654,and within Article 11.
(f) Chevron understands the language within this subsection.
