(Blaine Tech),to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was performed at
the subject site on March 18, 1996.
During their March site visit Blaine Tech gauged and sampled all nine wells. All groundwater samples
were analyzed for the presence of TPHGas and BTEX constituents. The measured direction of
groundwater flow was generally toward the north. The measured direction of groundwater flow was
inconsistent with previous site measurements and may have been related to groundwater elevations being
the highest ever measured at the subject site..Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were detected at all wells
except,MW-4,MW-7,and MW-9. The measured concentrations were consistent with those detected
previously at the subject site.
I would also like to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated, July 10, 1996, in which you cite several
issues causing Chevron to be out of compliance. The follbwing information is provided to address each
directive in your letter and is numbered correspondingly.-
1.
orrespondingly.1. Attached to this cover letter is the quarterly groundwater monitoring report issued for the first
quarter, 1996. The Blaine Tech Services,Inc. report dated,January 9, 1996,presents monitoring
results for the fourth quarter, 1995 and is also being provided in this transmittal. The second quarter,
1996 monitoring event occurred on June 18, 1996. The report documenting those results will be
submitted to your agency by August 9, 1996.
2. A review/update of the current compliance schedule indicates that the drilling permit, amended site
map and health and safety plan were submitted January 5, 1996. The permit application to the
SJVUAPCD was submitted on January 81 1996 (permit issued: 4/4/96). The other activities listed in
the current compliance schedule have not been initiated. As.such, Chevron and Geraghty&Miller
would like to`request the following modifications to the current schedule: -
