INTRODUCTION <br /> On behalf of Mr.Weldon Church Advanced GeoEnviromnental,Inc(AGE)has prepared this work <br /> plan for an in-situ chemical oxidation(ISCO)pilot test at 104 West Beverly Place,Tracy,California. <br /> (site). The proposed ISCO pilot test would consist of injecting a 5 % solution of RegenOxTM, <br /> manufactured by Regenesis. Additionally, as part of the ISCO pilot test, the work plan details the �v <br /> procedures for installation of one additional ground water monitoring well adjacent to boring B-18' Q,} ion Tr <br /> The purpose of the pilot test is to determine if ISCO application and treatment is capable of i ly <br /> remediating petroleum hydrocarbon impact in soil and ground water from 5 to 25 feet below surface 5-1. r <br /> 01 <br /> grade (bsg). A x1.6e, <br /> Q;o3T <br /> summary of site specific soil and ground water data collected to date are included in Tables 1 ral <br /> through 4. <br /> By letter dated 22 September 2009 (Appendix B), San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department(EHD)directed that a work plan be prepared for an ISCO pilot test.Additionally,prior <br /> to submitting a work plan,the EHD required that the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (CVRWQCB) be contacted to confirm that the pilot test would be in compliance with the <br /> CVRWQCB's requirements for injection to ground water. <br /> As a result,AGE contacted the CVRWQCB by letter dated 12 October 2009,and requested approval <br /> for performance of an ISCO pilot test at the site utilizing Regenox. In response to the request, the <br /> CVRWQCB determined that the pilot study would have to comply with the waste discharge <br /> requirements and General Order R-5-2008-0149.A copy of the CVRWQCB letter has been included <br /> as Appendix C. Additionally, a copy of the General Order has been included as Appendix D. <br /> 2.0 PROPOSED IN-SITU CHEMICAL OXIDATION TECHNOLOGY <br /> Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP's)refers to a set of chemical treatment procedures designed <br /> to remediate organic and inorganic constituents from soil and water by oxidation.AOP is particularly <br /> useful for remediation of aromatic compounds, pesticides, petroleum constituents and volatile <br /> organic compounds. <br /> Oxidation of target contaminants is caused by direct reaction with oxidizers. This results in the <br /> development of hydroxyl radicals. The hydroxyl ion generally grabs hydrogen atoms from the <br /> organic molecules in contaminated waters and causes the organic molecules to become unstable and <br /> eventually breakdown.
