U +
'k
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This work plan presents the scope of work and methodology that.Tetra:Tech EM Inc. (Tetra Tech) will
use to conduct a subsurface underground storage tank (UST) site evaluation at 4950 Bonham Street,
F
Linden California. The subsurface UST evaluation will assess the nature and extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts to the soil associated with a former 3,500-gallon underground storage tank (UST)
F
and a former 4,000-gallon UST at the site. The work described in II this work plan is intended to expedite
the tank sites towards regulatory closure and no further action status.
1.1 SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
An unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons was discovered during the removal of one 3,500-
j
gallon UST,tank identification number 39-2528-02; and a 4000-gallon UST,tank identification number
39-2528-01, at the referenced site. Soil samples obtained from the tank pit indicated total petroleum
I
hydrocarbon contamination ranging from 1,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg)to 1,500 mg/kg. The
soil sample analysis indicated that the hydrocarbon contamination ii as weathered diesel fuel. No
gasoline or gasoline constituents were detected. iF M
1.2 PURPOSE
34
The purpose of the proposed work described in this work plan is to determine the vertical and horizontal
1
extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil in the vicinity of the two former USTs. Information
obtained during the Iimited subsurface investigation will be used to move the tank site towards no further 4
action status. °
p
I}
1.3 PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK
The proposed scope of work includes the following tasks: i
• Task I-Work Plan Development: Prepare and submit a work plan for review and comment by the
San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD)to obtain 1
Ij
regulatory concurrence before initiation of the proposed field activities.
j
f
I. 11 A
