A fire occurred <br /> at Cottage Bakery in Lodi. I called and spoke to Lodi Fire at (209) 329-1063.The fire was i <br /> located in the bread oven inside of the manufacturing plant.The facility operates 24 hours <br /> a day 7 days a week.The fire was contained in the oven. At the time of the call the <br /> maintenance and fire crew were trying to remove the the heating plates. I asked if the Fire <br /> Dept.was requesting for EHD to respond. He said that he was just making notification. I <br /> informed Fire that I would contact my supervisor to see if I need to respond. <br /> Spoke with Kasey Foley.She said that this facility has a permit from EHD as a food facility so i <br /> it would be best for me to respond. i <br /> 8:55PM Arrived onsite. Met Chuck Douros, Health and Safety Manager. He gave me a tour <br /> of the oven,which had caught fire. According to Mr. Douros,the fire began at 7:OOPM <br /> when a bread loaf became logged in the machine.The debris at the bottom of the oven <br /> supported the fire growth. All of the employees where evacuated.The Plant Sanatarian <br /> and Compliance Manager,Ms.Stacey Silva was overseeing the destruction of the product. <br /> The facility will trash all of the contaminated product. I asked Mr. Douros if he will be <br /> contacting the Food and Drug Department. He said that he does not need to make <br /> contact for FDA because this incident does not involve chemical contamination. <br /> 9:45PM Left the scene. <br /> 6/8/07 <br /> Updated Kasey Foley and Ray Borges on the situation.Mr. Borges requested that we make <br /> a referral to the FDA. I left a message for a DHS Food and Drug Division inspector or their <br /> general inspector voicemail.
