NO-
10 March 2000
rt AGE-NC Project No. 99-0628
_
Page 4of8
vapor using the OVM. The OVM readings were recorded on boring logs. The soil was then visually
described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (see boring logs, Appendix A).
3.7. GROUND WATER SAMPLING
Following completion of the wells, grab water samples were collected from each well. The wells
- were not purged prior to sampling, the depths to ground water were not measured. Water samples
were collected from each well using a new disposable plastic bailer. Each water sample was
transferred into three 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0.5 ml 18% HCl as a sample
preservative and into one 1-liter amber bottle without preservative. After collection, the samples
were labeled and placed in a chilled container for transportation under chain-of-custody to PET.
3.8. GRAB GROUND WATER ANALYSES
_ Each grab ground water sample was analyzed for:
• TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo by EPA Method 8015 Modified,
`Y * BTEX and MTBE by EPA Method 8260 Modified,
• CAM 17 Metals- lead by EPA Method 239.2, mercury by EPA Method 200.8, and copper,
nickel, zinc, cadmium, and chromium by EPA Method 200.7, and silver by EPA Method
272.2,
• Volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8260, and
• Semi-volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8270.
3.9. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
Hollow stem augers were steam-cleaned prior to boring advancement. Sampling tools and brass
sleeves used for sample collection were thoroughly washed with a solution of Alconox and were
thoroughly rinsed with tap water prior to each sampling run. Wash and rinse water generated from
decontaminating the equipment was placed in properly labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon
drums and stored on-site in an area lacking public access.
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
