10 March 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0628
Page 6of8
Laboratory results of soil samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in Table 1.
The laboratory reports (Precision Enviro-Tech Analytical Laboratory ID PE6778-01 to PE6778-12),
quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reports and chains-of-custody are included in
Appendix E.
4.3. RESULTS OF ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
The grab ground water samples collected from the monitoring wells on the site were analyzed as
stated in Section 3.8 above. The results of the analyses are as follows:
• TPH-g, TPH-d and BTEX compounds and MTBE were not detected in the ground water
samples collected and analyzed from the site.
• Neither volatile organic compounds nor semi-volatile organic compounds were detected in
any of the three samples.
• Neither mercury nor silver were detected in the samples analyzed.
• Zinc concentrations ranged from 0.61 mg/l to 0.97 mg/l, well below EPA Region IX
Preliminary Remediation Goal (PRG) for tap water of i 1 mg/l.
• Copper concentrations ranged from 0.78 mg/l to 3.65 mg/l, exceeding the PRG at MW 1 and
MW2.
• Lead concentrations ranged from 0.12 mg/l to 0.63 mg/I, exceeding the federal action level
of 0.15 mg/1 and the PRG of 0.004 mg/l in all three samples.
• Nickel concentrations ranged from 0.41 mg/1 to 0.92 mg/l, exceeding the State of
California's Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 0.1 mg/1 in all samples and exceeding
the PRG of 0.73 mg/1 at MW3.
• Cadmium concentrations ranged from 0.23 mg/l to 0.89 mg/l, exceeding both the MCL of
0.005 mg/1 and the PRG of 0.018 mg/l in all three samples.
• The chromium concentrations ranged from 0.90 mg/l to 3.60 mg/l, exceeding both the MCL
of 0.05 mg/l and the PRGs of 0.18 mg/l (Chromium III) and 0.00016 mg/1 (Chromium VI)
in all three samples.
• The sample from MW2 was most the impacted by copper, lead, and chromium.
• The sample from MW3 was the most impacted by nickel and cadmium.
• The sample from MW I contained intermediate concentrations of the five metals, with
concentrations usually similar to those in MW2.
Advanced GeoFnvironniental,Inc.
