21 July 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0604
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTfVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD;a site-
specific health and safety plan is presently on file with the PHS-EHD and will be revised for the
CAM 17 metals detected in previous ground water samples. Prior to mobilization, each boring
location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
During this investigation,AGE proposes to advance one boring at the site to evaluate"background"
concentrations of target analytes. The proposed soil boring location is illustrated in Figure 2.
Based upon a review of data collected during the monitoring well installation, we recommend
advancement and sampling of one boring approximately 300 feet northeast of the former injection
wells site.AGE anticipates advancement of the boring to a depth of approximately 60 feet. However,
total depth of the soil boring will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic
vapor monitor(OVM). Soil samples will be collected from each boring at five-foot intervals to total
depth. Field procedures for advancement of borings and collection of soil samples are presented in
Section 3.1.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-d (diesel) and TPH-mo (motor oil) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and
• Selected CAM 17 metals(cadmium,chromium, lead,nickel and copper)in accordance with
appropriate EPA 6010 and 7000 series.
2.3. 1N-SITU GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
During the soil assessment activities,depth-discrete groundwater samples will be collected from the
soil boring, if possible. In-situ ground water sample collection procedures are presented in Section
3.2.
Selected ground water samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:
Rdvaneed GeoEnviron mental,Inc.
