r
13 November 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0481
Page 3of10
J
On 07 March 2000, the preliminary site assessment was continued using a hollow-stem auger drill
rig to advance soil borings SB-3 and SB-4. AGE continued site assessment activities as required by
the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD by letter dated 15 November 1999. Soil boring SB-3 was
advanced to 23 feet bsg and SB-4 was advanced to 60 feet bsg. A total of three soil samples were
submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory(McCampbell Analytical Inc.)for analysis. TPH-g, TPH-d,
BTEX compounds, and the suite of five fuel oxygenating compounds were not detected above the
laboratory reporting limits in any of the soil samples submitted for analysis (Tables 3 and 4). The
vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon- and fuel oxygenate-impacted soil has been defined in the
area north of the former eastern and western dispenser island.
r
A grab ground water sample was collected from soil boring SB-4 and was submitted to a
DHS-certified laboratory for analysis. None of the analytes were detected above the laboratory
reporting limits in the grab ground water sample collected (Tables 3 and 4). Ground water was not
impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons or fuel oxygenated compounds in the area north of the former
fuel dispenser area.
The lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon- and fuel oxygenate-impacted soil and
ground water has not been defined south of the former western fuel dispenser island,product piping,
and former waste oil UST
J 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the results of the previous assessments and the UST-removal sampling, petroleum
J hydrocarbon-impacted soil at the site appears to be limited to the area south of the former western
fuel dispenser island,product piping, and former waste oil UST. Therefore,no additional assessment
activities are proposed for the former location of the three fuel USTs.
The site assessment activities covered by this work plan include the investigation of the area that
formerly contained the west fuel dispenser,the waste oil UST, and the recent product piping rupture.
J The investigation of the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons at the site will consist of the following
tasks:
u
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Advancement of soil borings;
• Soil and grab ground water sample collection and analysis;
• Monitoring well installation and development;
r
• Ground water sample collection and analysis; and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
..r
