SOIL SAMPLING
Soil samples for Tank 92 will be taken at 5.0'intervals star ing at a bore hole depth of 10.0', Standard
BX tube samples will be taken from a eight inch hollow tem auger. Push point drilling may also be
used for soil sampling, Each soil tube will be capped with a layer of aluminum foil secured by plastic
caps, sealed with duct tape, labeled for identification, and stored on ice for transport to the
laboratory. All bore holes will be logged during the d 'lling using the standard soil classification
method. Soil samples will be transported under a chain o custody to Sherwood Labs of Hilmar, Ca.
for analysis or analyzed on site. Samples from Tank #2 will be analyzed per EPA Methods 8020
(BTEX), (MTBE), and 5030f8015(M)TPH-Gasoline. Samples from Tank#1 will anlyzed per EPA
Method 8010& 8020.
MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT
After soil sampling is completed, the borehole on Tank#2 ' l be developed into two inch PVC cased
monitoring well. Well depth, length of screened well casing and sand filter, and the location of a
bentonite plug will be determined in the field by the (PHS-EHD) representative and Foothill
Engineering. Permits for the monitoring wells and boreholes will be obtained by the drilling
subcontractor from the (PHS-EH). Monitoring wells will be developed and purged before gauging
and water sampling. .
MONITORING WELL TESTING
The monitoring well will be gauged and water samples btained and analyzed quarterly. A report
summarizing the quarterly results of gauging and testing of each monitoring well will be prepared by
the site.owner's consultant.
i
SUMMARY
The work plan calls for Foothill Engineering to secure t e services of a licenced drilling contractor
to drill slant bore holes sampling on Tank #1, A vertical bore hole with sampling will be made on
Tank #2. The Tank#2 bore hole will be used to install 2" PVC monitoring well. A report of the
findings for both tank locations with soil sample analysis will be prepared by Foothill Engineering
for review by all parties.
Please address any questions, corrections or additions to Ery Rifenburg, Foothill Engineering, Phone
209/368-9381 !;
Respectfully submitted,
Foo 'll E ng
Ery Ri enb g PE
cc: Norman Higgins
