Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Clint Harms [charms@secor.com]
Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 4:47 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Cc: Ed Ralston
Subject: Tosco 1205, Lathrop
Mike:
The following is an update of our progress of permitting and offsite well
access/sampling at Tosco 1205 in Lathrop. Once the new monitoring well is
installed, we will be placing transducers in a few monitoring wells at the
site to see if pumping from the closest offsite well is affecting plume
migration.
Permitting:
Received City of Lathrop Encroachment permit on July 21, 2003.
Submitted SJC EHD permit on July 23, 2003. Drilling will be scheduled after
the permit is approved and inspection availability and availability of the
drillers is determined.
Access to Irrigation well at Lathrop Elementary School (15851 South Fifth
Street) :
Contacted Mr. Scott Anderson with Manteca Unified School District - Seemed
very willing to give us access to sample well.
Access Request submitted to ConocoPhillips on 7/25/03. Mr. Anderson
indicated that the well did not have a screen interval (open bottom) because
it was irrigation well (based on original well search the well is 248 feet
deep) . The only wells that are screened in his school district are ones
that provide drinking water. Mr. Anderson referred SECOR to Mormon Water
Services, who he believed did the maintenance of that well.
Mormon Water Services was contacted, and they had no recollection as that
well being one that they service.
Well Information:
Mr. Anderson referred SECOR to Mr. Jerry Brown, maintenance supervisor for
the school. He stated that the well was operational for irrigation of the
lawns at the school, and that the well serviced 21 stations that each ran
for .5 hours a day (10.5 hours total pumping per day for the well) and six
days a week during the summer months (the well is not used during the
winter) . Mr. Brown also stated that he thought the well pumping rate was
230 gallons/minute. Mr. Brown referred SECOR to N & S who he believed
serviced the well (although they had not been out there for 3 to 4 years) .
SECOR called N&S Irrigation and spoke with Mr. Bob Pauly. He could not
locate anything under that address or Manteca Unified School District well
in Lathrop. He said that he would contact his manager and that he would
call me back.
Give me a call if you have any questions. I will continue to send period
updates on our progress at this site. Thanks.
Clinton E.
