SECTION 5 <br /> SAMPLE SHIPMENT <br /> Samvies coilectea in this stuav, with the exceution of aav drum samples. tank <br /> samvtes. or other concentrated wastes. will be classified as environmental samples. <br /> In general, environmental samuies are collected from streams. ponds. or wells and <br /> are not expected to be grossiv contaminated with high levels of hazardous materials. <br /> The sample tag will be legibiv written and completed with an indelible pencil or <br /> waterproof ink. The information will also be recorded to a log book. As a <br /> tmnimu= it will include: <br /> • Exact location of samie <br /> • Time and date sample was collected <br /> • Name of samvier witnesses (if necessary i <br /> rProject codes. samoie station number, and identiNing code (if applicable. <br /> • Type of sample (if known <br /> • Tag number (if sequential tag system is used) <br /> • Laboratory number (if applicable) <br /> • Any other pertinent information <br /> 5.1 Environmental Samples <br /> ' Environmental samples will be packaged and shipped according to the following <br /> procedure: <br /> 1. Place sample container. properly identified and with a sealed lid. in a <br /> poivethviene bag. and seat bap-; <br /> ?. PIace samole in a fiberooara container or metal picnic cooler wlticn has been <br /> ' lined with a large polvetm tene oag. <br /> 3. Pack with enough noncomoustible, absorbent. cushioning material to <br /> minimize the possibility of the container breaking. <br /> 4 Seal Large bag. <br /> 5. Seal or close outside container <br /> ' Sampte containers must have a completed sample identification tag and the <br /> outside container must be marKed "Environmental Sampie" The appropriate side <br /> of the container must be marred "This End Up" and arrows should be drawn <br /> accordingly No DOT marling iabehrip- is required. <br /> No DOT shipping pacers are required There are no DOT restrictions on mode <br /> of transaortation. <br /> i r-js/s't=.Qi/G0= <br /> 5-1 <br />
